192 – (Authentic) ʿAbd Allah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped at my father’s house. We set before him some food and a dish of waṭba (a yogurt-and-date mixture), and he ate from it. Then dates were brought to him; he would eat them and place the pits between his forefinger and middle finger, gathering them together. Afterwards a drink was offered, which he drank, and he then passed it to the person on his right.

My father, holding the reins of the Prophet’s mount, said, “Pray to Allah for us.” He responded:

“O Allah, bless them in what You have provided for them, forgive them, and have mercy on them.”
