170 – (sound) Sālim reported:
Whenever Ibn ʿUmar, may Allah be pleased with them both, saw that a man was about to travel he would say, “Come closer so that I may bid you farewell just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to bid us farewell,” and he would say:
“Astawdiʿu Allāha dīnak, wa amānatak, wa khawātīma ʿamalik” — “I entrust to Allah your religion, your trustworthiness, and the conclusion of your deeds.”
(weak) In another chain it is related that when the Prophet ﷺ bade a man farewell he would take his hand and would not release it until the man himself let go of the Prophet’s hand, and this was mentioned.
