18 – (Ṣaḥīḥ) ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“In the evening we have entered evening and the dominion belongs to Allah; all praise is His. There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. Lord, I ask You for the good that is in this night and the good that follows it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil that follows it. Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and from the burden of decrepit old age. Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.”
When morning came he would say the same, adding: “We have entered morning and the dominion belongs to Allah….” ⦗68⦘
