Takhrij al-Kalim al-TayyibIbn Taimiya

142 – (Sound) Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—say, “Whenever a servant is afflicted by a calamity and then says, innā lillāh wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn (We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return), Allāhumma ujurnī fī muṣībatī wa akhlif lī khayran minhā (O Allah, reward me in my calamity and grant me something better in its place), Allah will indeed reward him for his affliction and will give him something better in exchange.” She added, “When Abu Salama passed away, I recited what the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—had instructed me to say, and Allah compensated me with someone better than him: the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him.”
