134 – Authentic (ṣaḥīḥ). Abu al-Dardāʾ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood to pray, and we heard him say, “I seek refuge in Allah from you,” then, “I curse you with the curse of Allah,” three times. He stretched out his hand as though he were grasping something. When he finished the prayer we said, “Messenger of Allah, we heard you say something in the prayer that we have never heard from you before, and we saw you extend your hand.” He replied:
“The enemy of Allah, Iblīs (Satan), came with a flaming brand to cast it in my face. I said, ‘I seek refuge in Allah from you’ three times, then, ‘I curse you with the complete curse of Allah’ three times, yet he did not retreat. I then wanted to seize him, and—by Allah—had it not been for the supplication of our brother Solomon, he would have been left bound so that the children of Medina could play with him.” ⦗123⦘
