117 – (Very weak) It is reported from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“O Anas, whenever you are inclined toward a matter, perform istikhāra—seeking your Lord’s guidance—seven times. Then look to what first settles in your heart, for the good is to be found therein.”
[No one ever regrets seeking guidance from the Creator, consulting His servants, and proceeding with due deliberation.]
Allah the Exalted says, “Consult them in the matter; but once you have resolved, put your trust in Allah” (Āl ʿImrān 3:159).
Qatādah said, “Whenever a people consult one another seeking Allah’s pleasure, they are guided to the best course in their affairs.”
