Distinctive features:
1 – A complete and carefully executed copy.
2 – Read to the ḥāfiẓ ʿUthmān al-Dīmī (2), one of the author’s students, and bearing his handwriting and authorization.
3 – Contains marginal notes and useful annotations.
4 – Includes a few minor corrections.
5 – The scribe marked off the main text from the commentary in red ink.

(1) Abu Zakariyya Yahya ibn Shakir ibn Abd al-Ghani ibn Shakir was renowned from an early age for his prodigious memory, keen intelligence, quick grasp, eloquence, and polished style, coupled with notable humility, courtesy, and sound judgment. He died in 885 AH. Al-Dawʾ al-Lamiʿ, 10:226.
(2) Fakhr al-Din Abu Amr Uthman ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Dimi, a Shafi‘i scholar from Cairo, studied under the hadith master Ibn Hajar. He was one of the nine students to whom Ibn Hajar entrusted his scholarly estate, describing them as ahl al-hadith (the people of hadith). He died in 908 AH. Al-Dawʾ al-Lamiʿ, 5:140.

٣ - عليها حواشٍ وتعليقاتٌ مفيدةٌ.
٤ - عليها تصحيحاتٌ يسيرةٌ.
٥ - مَيَّزَ ناسخُها المتنَ عن الشَّرح بالمداد الأحمر.

(١) هو: أبو زكريَّا، يحيى بن شاكر بن عبد الغنيِّ بن شاكر، عُرِفَ من صِغَرِه بقوَّة الحافظة، ووفور الذَّكاء، وسرعة الإدراك، والفصاحة، وحسن العبارة، مع مزيد التَّواضع والأدب والعقل، توفِّي سنة (٨٨٥ هـ). الضَّوء اللَّامع (١٠/ ٢٢٦).
(٢) هو: فخر الدِّين أبو عمرو عثمان بن محمَّد بن عثمان الدِّيمي، الشَّافعي، القاهري، أخذ عن الحافظ ابن حجر، وكان أحد التِّسعة الذين أوصى إليهم، ووصفهم بكونهم أهل الحديث، توفِّي سنة (٩٠٨ هـ). انظر: الضَّوء اللَّامع (٥/ ١٤٠).
