The next discussion offers fresh proof of the shaykh’s ignorance—shared by all who tread his path—of hadith sciences and of the principles by which reports are authenticated or declared weak. It also exposes their partisanship against the Prophet’s teaching ﷺ in defense of their own school, opinion, and whim. Allah alone is the One whose help is sought.
Eighth Discussion: Affirming the soundness of the Prophet’s ﷺ statement:
(Authentic) “When a woman reaches puberty, nothing should be visible of her except her face and her hands.”
I say, relying on Allah’s aid:
These critics have hurled themselves at the text of this hadith, attempting to discredit it, in defiance of the hadith masters who judged it sound—among them al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan, al-Mundhiri in his Targhib, al-Dhahabi in his Tadhhib, and others. Their methods differ: some were content to cite a single chain and pronounce it weak, while others went further, as you will see. Yet they all agreed on quoting the disparaging remarks leveled at the narrator while concealing the statements of those who declared him trustworthy (1). Indeed, a few even resorted to sleight of hand, creating the illusion that no one had ever endorsed him and that his narration ranks among the weakest, unfit for even indirect support—an outright falsehood. In so doing they have collectively violated the scholarly rule for strengthening a hadith.
