Al-Radd al-MufhimNasir al-Din al-Albani

other narrations that the Shaykh himself has cited. So why, then, did he bring up this objectionable wording, “her khimar”? Does he not realize that it conflicts not only with those other reports but also with the Almighty’s statement in the Verse of Light: “and let them not display their adornment except to their husbands or their fathers …” until He says, “or their womenfolk”? The hadith in fact refers to a woman taking off all her clothes in a public bathhouse—as is clarified in Adab al-Zifaf—whereas her lifting her khimar outside her husband’s house while in the company of Muslim women is plainly allowed by the verse. You will see this confirmed in the next hadith.
