Al-Radd al-MufhimNasir al-Din al-Albani

2 – It is also consistent with what has been authentically transmitted from Ibn ʿAbbās through seven separate chains: that the face and the hands constitute the apparent adornment that a woman is permitted to leave uncovered. Those seven chains were cited in the “Introduction,” and some of them are sound—as will be shown later in the book. This constitutes explicit evidence for the point at issue, as Ibn al-Qaṭṭān al-Fāsī noted in his work al-Naẓar fī Aḥkām al-Naẓar (p. 20/2), where he further buttressed the report by vouching for the reliability of its transmitters.

Al-Sindi, however, while mentioning these isnāds, flatly declared them unsound (p. 18). His malice and duplicity are evident in that he presented the weak chains, elaborated on their defects, and concealed the sound ones. Al-Iskandarānī (3/265) endorsed him, owing to his ignorance of this noble discipline, and thus both men wronged themselves and their readers by venturing into a field in which they are not proficient.
