Fifth example: Anas reported—sound: “On the day of Uḥud I saw ʿĀʾishah bint Abī Bakr and Umm Sulaym with their garments tucked up so that I could see the bangles on their legs—i.e., their anklets. They kept hurrying back and forth, carrying water-skins on their backs, pouring the water into the mouths of the fighters, then returning to refill the skins and coming back to empty them into the men’s mouths once more.”
It was recorded by the two Shaykhs, and it is also cited in the book (p. 40).
Sixth example: Al-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwidh said—sound: “We used to go out on campaign with the Prophet ﷺ, giving the men water, serving them, and bringing the wounded and the slain back to Medina.”
Recorded by al-Bukhārī (2883) and Aḥmad (6/358).
Seventh example: Umm ʿAṭiyyah said—sound: “I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on seven expeditions. I would stay behind at the encampment, prepare food for them, treat the wounded, and look after the sick.”
Recorded by Muslim (5/199); Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf (12/525); Aḥmad (5/84; 6/407); and Ibn Saʿd (8/455). Al-Bukhārī (324) has a similar narration, as does al-Ṭabarānī (5/55/121). ⦗152⦘
