(1) It is related from Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said, “Obey Allah in what He has enjoined upon you regarding marriage and He will fulfill for you what He has promised of prosperity.” The Most High says: “If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His bounty; Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.” (24:32)
Ibn Masʿūd said: “Seek affluence through marriage, for Allah, Exalted is He, says: ‘If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His bounty; Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.’ (24:32)” This was narrated by Ibn Jarīr, and al-Baghawī reported a similar statement from ʿUmar. That concludes the passage from Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr (5/94–95, Dār al-Andalus edition).
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah stated in Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā (32/90): “Allah, exalted be He, has allowed the believers to marry, to divorce, and to remarry a woman who has been divorced after she has married another husband. The Christians forbid marriage to some of their adherents, and for those whom they allow to marry they do not permit divorce. The Jews allow divorce, but if the divorced woman marries another man she then becomes forbidden to her first husband in their law. Thus, among the Christians there is no divorce, and among the Jews there is no return to the first husband after she has married someone else. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has permitted the believers both marriage and divorce.” End quote.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said in al-Hady al-Nabawī:
