practice hypocrisy with regard to the hijab: when they are in a society that observes it, they veil themselves, but when they are in a society that neglects it, they do the same. Some of them cover only when they are in an open public place, yet as soon as they enter a shop, a hospital, or speak with a jeweler or a women’s tailor, they uncover their face and arms as though they were with their husbands or other mahrams. So fear Allah, you who behave in this manner. We have even seen women arriving on flights from abroad who do not put on the hijab until the aircraft lands at one of this country’s airports—treating the hijab as though it were a cultural habit rather than a religious obligation.
O Muslim sister, the hijab protects you from the poisonous gazes of those whose hearts are diseased and from the canine predators among men; it severs their ravenous ambitions toward you. Therefore adhere to it and hold fast to it, and pay no attention to the spiteful propaganda that fights the hijab or belittles its standing, for such campaigns only wish you harm. As Allah the Exalted says: “Those who pursue their lusts want you to deviate with a great deviation.” ⦗Women 4:27⦘ (1).
