Foreword: Reminders on Rulings Specific to Believing Women
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Introduction
All praise is due to Allah, who ordains and guides, who created the two spouses—male and female—from a drop of fluid when it is emitted. I testify that there is no god but Allah alone, without partner; His is the praise in this world and the Hereafter. I also testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, whom Allah caused to ascend to the heavens where he beheld some of his Lord’s greatest signs. May Allah’s blessings and everlasting peace be upon him, upon his family, and upon his companions—people of lofty virtues and sound judgment.
To proceed: The Muslim woman occupies a distinguished place in Islam and has been charged with many responsibilities. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, directed special guidance to women and commended them in his sermon at ʿArafāt, underscoring the necessity of caring for them in every era—especially in ours, when the Muslim woman has been targeted in particular, her dignity assaulted and her status diminished. It is therefore vital to alert her to the danger and to point out the path to salvation.
I pray that this book will serve as a signpost along that path through its presentation of certain rulings specific to her. Though only a modest contribution—the effort of one with limited means—I ask Allah to let it benefit in proportion to its worth. It is but the first step on this road; may broader, more comprehensive steps follow toward what is better and more complete.
