while travelling; that the Sunnah is to omit the regular Sunnah prayers during travel except the two-rakʿah Sunnah of Fajr and the Witr prayer; the ruling when a resident prays behind a traveller and when a traveller prays behind a resident; the ruling concerning the intention to shorten and to combine, and the requirement of contiguity between the two combined prayers; the concessions granted for travel; the rulings on combining prayers, its categories, and its degrees, whether one is on a journey or at home. In all of this I have benefited greatly from the notes and preferred opinions of our teacher, the imam ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbd Allāh Ibn Bāz—may Allah have mercy on him and raise his rank in the gardens of bliss.
I ask Allah to render this work acceptable to Him, blessed, and sincere for His noble Face; to make it beneficial to me during my life and after my death; and to benefit everyone who receives it. He—exalted be He—is the best One to be asked and the most generous in whom hope is placed. He is sufficient for us and the best Disposer of affairs. May Allah’s blessings, peace, and abundant grace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions, and all who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
