Allah has announced that He has forbidden Paradise to the polytheist and that such a person will remain forever in the Fire of Hell. The Exalted says: “Indeed, whoever associates partners with Allah, Allah has made Paradise forbidden to him; his refuge is the Fire, and the wrongdoers will have no helpers.” ⦗al-Ma’idah: 72⦘

Polytheism renders all deeds null and void. Allah, exalted be He, says: “But if they had associated others with Him, all that they used to do would have been in vain.” ⦗al-An‘am: 88⦘ And He says: “It has been revealed to you and to those before you that if you associate partners with Allah, your deeds will surely come to nothing, and you will certainly be among the losers.” ⦗al-Zumar: 65⦘

The life and property of the polytheist are not inviolable. Allah, exalted be He, says: “So kill the polytheists wherever you find them; capture them, besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every vantage point.” ⦗al-Tawbah: 5⦘ The Prophet ﷺ said: “I have been commanded to fight the people until they declare, ‘There is no deity but Allah.’ If they say it, they protect from me their blood and their property, except for what is rightfully due.” (1)
