namely, that revelation descends in your homes and in no one else’s. Among you, ʿĀʾishah the Truthful, daughter of the Truthful—may Allah be pleased with her—was the most privileged by this blessing and enjoyed the largest share of that boundless mercy, for revelation was never sent down to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ while he lay in the bed of any woman besides her, as he himself expressly stated—peace and blessings be upon him. Some scholars said this was because he married no virgin other than her, and no man ever lay in her bed after him ﷺ (meaning she never married anyone else). It was therefore appropriate that she be singled out for this distinction and granted this exalted rank.
