Imam Aḥmad recorded the incident (1/450): Ibrahim ibn Khalid narrated to us; Rabāḥ narrated from Maʿmar, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUthmān, from al-Qāsim, from his father, that al-Walīd ibn ʿUqbah… and so forth.
This chain is sound; all of its transmitters are those relied upon by the two Ṣaḥīḥs except for Ibrahim ibn Khalid—al-Ṣanʿānī—who is trustworthy, and Rabāḥ ibn Zayd al-Qurashī al-Ṣanʿānī, who is likewise reliable and distinguished, as stated in Taqrīb. ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUthmān is Ibn Khuthaym, and al-Qāsim is Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd. Al-Haythamī said in Majmaʿ (1/324) after citing it: “It was reported by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr, and its narrators are trustworthy.”
- From Shaddād ibn Aws, traced back to the Prophet: “There will arise after me leaders who will deaden the prayer by taking it out of its appointed times. Therefore perform the prayer at its proper time, and count the one you pray with them as a supererogatory act.”
Aḥmad recorded it (4/124) through Ibn ʿAyyāsh, from Rāshid ibn Dāwūd, from Abū Asmāʾ al-Raḥabī, from him. This Levantine isnād is good. Al-Haythamī states in Majmaʿ (1/325): “It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsat. Within it is Rāshid ibn Dāwūd; al-Dāraquṭnī declared him weak, whereas Ibn Maʿīn, Duḥaym, and Ibn Ḥibbān considered him reliable.”
- A similar wording is transmitted from ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah, traced back to the Prophet. Aḥmad recorded it (3/445–446) through ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUbayd Allah, who said: ʿAbd ibn ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah informed me from his father, ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah.
Additional reports on this topic come from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr and Anas ibn Mālik, collected by al-Ṭabarānī and others; see Majmaʿ.
