but what, then, is to be said about the she-camel on which Umm Salamah was mounted while she circumambulated? And supposing someone argues that it was the Prophet’s own camel ﷺ, he must be called upon to furnish evidence for that claim.

9 – Ablution: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed wudu inside the mosque.”

This ḥadith was recorded by Aḥmad, who said: “Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Abū Khālid, from Abū al-ʿĀliya, from one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who said: ‘I memorised for you that…’ and so forth.”

Al-Haythamī remarked that its chain is ḥasan (sound).

I add: All its narrators are reliable transmitters found in the collections of the Two Shaykhs, except for Abū Khālid—his name is Muhājir ibn Mukhlad, Abū Mukhlad, and it is also said: Abū Khālid, the client of the Bakrāt family. He narrated from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakra and from Abū al-ʿĀliya al-Rāyiḥī, while ʿAwf al-Aʿrābī, Wahīb, Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, Ḥammād ibn Zayd, his brother Saʿīd ibn Zayd, and ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī narrated from him. Wahīb criticised him, saying, “He does not retain what he hears.” Ibn Maʿīn judged him “acceptable,” while Abū Ḥātim said, “His ḥadith is soft; he is not as he should be, nor is he precise, yet his ḥadith is written down.” Ibn Ḥibbān listed him among the trustworthy, and al-Sājī said, “He is truthful and known; anyone who called him ‘unknown’ has no case.”

Accordingly, the ḥadith is ḥasan, God willing, so long as it is not contradicted.
