Hurayrah under the second route.
2 – Fulayh relates from Saʿīd ibn al-Ḥārith, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Saʿīd, who said:
“These are palm-frond stalks to which Allah has granted blessing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fond of them and would tuck one into his waist-band. We would straighten them and bring them to him. He once noticed spittle on the qiblah wall of the mosque while he was holding one of those stalks, so he scraped it away and said …” He then narrated the remainder. This is the third version—the one that contains the additional wording at the end.
Aḥmad recorded it, and its chain is sound according to the criteria of the Six.
3 – Ibn ʿAjlān relates from ʿIyāḍ ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from Abū Saʿīd. Its wording and documentation were cited earlier at the beginning of this discussion.
4 – Ḥammād transmits from Thābit, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd, in a very concise form:
“The Prophet ﷺ spat into his garment and then rubbed it.”
Aḥmad recorded it, and its chain is sound according to Muslim’s criteria.
Fourth: Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh.
He is reached by two routes:
1 – Through ʿUbādah ibn al-Walīd ibn ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, from him, with wording similar to the hadith of Abū
