“(equivalent to freeing a slave) instead of: (an ʿumrah).” Al-Haythamī then added:
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Kabīr, and in its chain is Mūsā ibn ʿUbaydah, who is weak.”
I say: It appears that he is one of those who transmitted the report through the route of Ibn Ṭaḥmān, as al-Dhahabī indicated. Neither he nor al-Haythamī, however, mentioned the additional clause that al-Mundhirī cited from al-Bayhaqī, so it may be another version coming from Ibn Ṭaḥmān. Allah knows best.
The ḥadith also has corroboration in the report of Usayd ibn Ẓuḥayr al-Anṣārī, traced back to the Prophet ﷺ with the wording:
“One prayer in the Mosque of Qubāʾ is like an ʿumrah.”
It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2/145–146), Ibn Mājah, and al-Ḥākim (1/487) through the chain of ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar, who said: Abū al-Abard, the freedman of Banū Khaṭmah, narrated it to us from him. Al-Tirmidhī remarked:
“This ḥadith is ḥasan gharīb, and we do not know of anything authentically reported from Usayd ibn Ẓuḥayr other than this ḥadith.”
Al-Ḥākim declared: “Its chain is sound, except that Abū al-Abard is unknown,” and al-Dhahabī agreed. In al-Mīzān he wrote: “No one narrated from him except ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar.” In al-Taqrīb he is graded: “maqbūl (acceptable).”
There is disagreement concerning his personal name: some say it is Ziyād; others say it is Mūsā ibn Salīm. Allah knows best.
The ḥadith has yet another supporting narration from Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah. Al-Haythamī said:
