—in its longer version. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar reproduces its wording in al-Isābah (4/343). The ʿĀṣim in question is ʿĀṣim ibn Suwayd ibn Yazīd ibn Jāriyah al-Anṣārī, the imam of the Mosque of Qubāʾ. Ibn Maʿīn said, “I do not know him.” Ibn ʿAdī commented, “His narrations are extremely few.” Al-Dhahabī added, “A denounced ḥadith is attributed to him,” and Abū Ḥātim said, “He related two denounced reports.” In al-Taqrīb his rating is “acceptable.”
As for his father, Suwayd—who appears in the last chain—I found no biographical entry for him. The same is true for ʿUbayd ibn Wadiʿah, or ʿUtbah, for al-Isābah records the name in two places, once as ʿUbayd and elsewhere as ʿUtbah; I do not know him. Allah knows best.
Praying in that mosque carries immense reward, for the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever sets out until he reaches this mosque”—meaning the Mosque of Qubāʾ—(in another wording: “Whoever purifies himself in his house and then comes to the Mosque of Qubāʾ”) “and performs a prayer in it, it will be counted for him as the equivalent of an ʿumrah”; another version states: “he will receive the reward of an ʿumrah.”
This ḥadith is narrated by Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Kirmānī, who said: “I heard Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf say: My father related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said …,” and he mentioned the report.
It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (1/113–114), al-Ḥākim (2/12), and Aḥmad (3/487) through the chain of Mujammaʿ ibn Yaʿqūb al-Anṣārī from him.
