for Saʿd ibn Saʿīd al-Maqburī is weak in ḥadīth transmission, and his brother ʿAbdullāh is classified as abandoned, as stated in al-Taqrīb. Al-Suyūṭī cited the report in al-Jāmiʿ and said (1):
“Al-Zubayr ibn Bakkār related it in Akhbār al-Madīnah on the authority of Abū Hurayrah. In the copy before us it carries no evaluation symbol, nor does the commentator address it; he merely remarks: ‘The author’s wording suggests he did not see it recorded by any of the well-known compilers—and that is astonishing, for al-Daylamī produced it with the wording cited, as did al-Ṭayālisī.’”
I say: If he means that it appears in the Musnad of al-Ṭayālisī from Abū Hurayrah, I have examined that Musnad and did not find it there. Allah knows best.
He also said: “I am the seal of the prophets, and my mosque is the seal of the prophets’ mosques.”
This ḥadīth is narrated from ʿĀʾishah and has a continuation. We have already quoted it in full when discussing the Sacred Mosque, noting there that its chain includes Mūsā ibn ʿUbaydah, who is weak. Yet this very ḥadīth has come through another route with a sound chain, in the wording: “For I am the last of the prophets, and my mosque is the last of the mosques.” It was recorded by Muslim and al-Nasāʾī, as mentioned earlier.
The continuation we alluded to also enjoys numerous corroborating narrations, previously cited, all of which show that Mūsā ibn ʿUbaydah preserved accurately what he transmitted. Perhaps for this reason al-Munḏirī included it in al-Targhīb (2/136), where he said: “And al-Bazzār narrated it from ʿĀʾishah.”
