Mūsā b. ʿUbaydah possesses yet another chain of transmission:
(6) Among those who report it is ʿĀʾishah ﵂, and the narration reaches us through two routes:
-
From Mūsā b. ʿUbaydah, from Dāwūd b. Mudrik, from ʿUrwah, from her.
Mūsā is weak, as noted earlier, and his teacher Dāwūd b. Mudrik is majhūl (unknown) according to al-Taqrīb. -
From Ibn Jurayj, who said: “ʿAṭāʾ informed me that Abū Salamah informed him, from Abū Hurayrah and ʿĀʾishah,” traced back to the Prophet.
This isnād is sound by the standards of the Six canonical collections.
Aḥmad recorded it (2/278).
(7) Among the Companions who transmit it is Jubayr b. Muṭʿim:
Ḥuṣayn b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related it from Muḥammad b. Ṭalḥah b. Yazīd b. Rukānah, from Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, as a marfūʿ narration.
Its transmitters are trustworthy, yet there is a break between Muḥammad b. Ṭalḥah and Jubayr b. Muṭʿim.
It was recorded by al-Ṭayālisī (p. 128, no. 950) and by Aḥmad (4/80).
The report has also appeared in a connected form. Al-Haythamī (4/5) said:
“Aḥmad, Abū Yaʿlā, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr all transmitted it; the isnād of the first three is mursal, while al-Ṭabarānī supplies a chain whose narrators are those of the Ṣaḥīḥ, and it is connected.”
