al-Masʿūdī then narrated from Ibn Isḥāq, from ʿAmr ibn Maymūn, from him.
Al-ʿAbbās ibn Ḥamdān—this is the Ḥanafī—al-Ṭabarānī transmits from him frequently, and he recorded only one report for him in his Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr. I have not found anyone who wrote a biographical entry for him; he may perhaps be mentioned in Ibn Ḥayyān’s Ṭabaqāt al-Aṣbahāniyyīn, a copy of which is held in the Ẓāhiriyyah Library, and it should be consulted. The remaining transmitters in the chain are trustworthy; only al-Kirmānī is weak, as al-Haythamī said—and al-Dhahabī had already preceded him in that judgment.
(b) “Whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or in the evening, Allah will prepare for him a lodging in Paradise each time he goes, morning or evening.”
This hadith was recorded by al-Bukhārī, Muslim, and Aḥmad, through Yazīd ibn Hārūn—Aḥmad’s shaykh in this chain—who said: Muḥammad ibn al-Muṭarrif informed us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār, from Abū Hurayrah, traced back to the Prophet. Al-Ḥāfiẓ commented:
“The apparent purport of the hadith is that the merit is granted to anyone who comes to the mosque without restriction; however, what is intended is the one who comes for worship, foremost of which is the prayer. Allah knows best.”
(c) “Whoever goes to the congregational mosque—one step erases a sin and the next records a good deed for him, on the way there and on the way back.”
This is the hadith of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ.
Imām Aḥmad recorded it through the route of Ibn Lahīʿah: Ḥayy ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us that Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to him that he heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ report it, traced back to the Prophet.
