Praying on a rush mat
There are several ḥadiths on this point:

(1) From Anas ibn Mālik—related through multiple routes and wordings.
The first route: transmitted by Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah from Anas, stating that the Prophet ﷺ prayed on a rush mat. Al-Dārimī and Aḥmad record it in this abridged form; a fuller version appears in the two Ṣaḥīḥs and elsewhere, and will be cited later.

(2) Narrated by Shuʿbah from Anas ibn Sīrīn, who said: “I heard Anas ibn Mālik say: A man from the Anṣār—he was a large man—said, ‘I cannot pray with you.’ He prepared food for the Prophet ﷺ, invited him to his home, spread out a rush mat, sprinkled water on one corner of it, and the Prophet prayed two rakʿahs upon it …” The ḥadith is recorded by al-Bukhārī, Abū Dāwūd, and Aḥmad.
