The other chain was recorded by Aḥmad, and al-Nasāʾī likewise transmitted it with a similar wording.
(2) ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās:
Al-Tirmidhī, al-Ḥākim, al-Bayhaqī, al-Ṭayālisī, and Aḥmad all relate it through ʿIkrimah from him, and in al-Ḥākim’s version the wording is “bisāṭ” (a rug) instead of “khumrah.” This is also the recension found in Aḥmad and al-Bayhaqī; Ibn Mājah reports it as well, and al-Bayhaqī narrates it again through the chain of Zamʿah ibn Ṣāliḥ from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from Ibn ʿAbbās. Al-Tirmidhī comments that it is “ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ” (good and sound).
(3) ʿĀʾishah:
Al-Ṭayālisī and Aḥmad transmit it via Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from al-Azraq ibn Qays, from Dhakwān, on her authority. This chain is authentic; its narrators are those found in the two Ṣaḥīḥs. Another route appears in the Musnad through ʿUrwah on her authority, and it too is authentic according to the standards of the Six.
(4) Anas ibn Mālik, for whom there are two routes:
The first comes through Qatādah from him, and al-Ṭabarānī records it in al-Ṣaghīr.
