Yahya ibn Hani ibn ʿUrwah al-Muradi, from ʿAbd al-Hamid, with the same wording. The version is that of al-Tirmidhi, who said: (a ḥadith that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ).
The material in parentheses is from al-Nasaʾi and, in meaning, from al-Hakim, who both graded it: (ṣaḥīḥ), and al-Dhahabi concurred. It is indeed as they stated, and al-Hafiz likewise authenticated it in Fatḥ al-Bārī.
There is also a corroborating report transmitted by Harun ibn Muslim, from Qatadah ibn Muʿawiyah ibn Qurrah, from his father—(its chain is sound)—who said: “We were forbidden to form rows between the columns in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we were driven away from them completely.”
Ibn Majah, al-Hakim, and al-Tayalisi recorded this version; al-Hakim declared its chain (ṣaḥīḥ al-isnād) and al-Dhahabi agreed.
In my view it is ḥasan, for all its transmitters are trustworthy except Harun ibn Muslim. About him Abu Hatim said: (majhūl, “unknown”). Ibn Hibban listed him in al-Thiqat, and in al-Taqrib he is described as (mastūr, “concealed”). Al-Dhahabi in al-Mizān, after citing Abu Hatim’s verdict that he is unknown, said:
