It is likewise recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Ahmad, and Muhammad in his Muwattaʾ, all of them through the chain: Malik → al-Zuhri → Saʿid ibn al-Musayyib → Abu Hurayrah, as a report traced back to the Prophet with the wording, “May Allah destroy….”
Yunus also transmits it from al-Zuhri in Muslim, and a number of reliable narrators do the same in Ahmad’s Musnad. Qatadah corroborates al-Zuhri in reporting it from Saʿid, and Ibn Abi Shaybah cites this version in his Muṣannaf.
A third route from Abu Hurayrah contains the wording: “O Allah, do not make my grave an idol; Allah has cursed a people who turned the graves of their prophets into places of worship.” Ahmad records it, saying: “Sufyan narrated to us from Hamzah ibn al-Mughīrah, from Suhayl ibn Abi Ṣāliḥ, from his father, from him (Abu Hurayrah).”
This chain is sound: all of its transmitters are trustworthy and are also found in the collections of Muslim, except for Hamzah ibn al-Mughīrah al-Makhzumi—and he too is unanimously reliable.
Al-Haythami attributes the report only to Abu Yaʿla, remarking: “Its chain contains Ishaq ibn Abi Israel, about whom there is some discussion because of his stance regarding the Qur’an, while the rest of its transmitters are trustworthy.”
