16. The Manner of Performing Ghusl
    Whenever the Prophet ﷺ performed the ritual bath after major impurity, he would begin by washing his hands twice or three times, then pour water from his right hand onto his left and wash his private parts. Next he would make ablution as he did for prayer, take water and work his fingers into the roots of his hair until he was sure the scalp had been thoroughly moistened, scoop water onto his head three times, pour it over the rest of his body, and finally wash his feet. He would start with the right side of his head and then the left. Reported by both of them.

After completing the ghusl he would not make a separate ablution.

As for a woman, it suffices her to scoop water onto her head three times and then pour water over herself; that purifies her. Reported by Muslim and others.

17. The Amount of Water Used for Ghusl and Ablution
    The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the ghusl with one saʿ and make ablution with one mudd. Reported by Aḥmad, Ibn Mājah, Muslim, and al-Tirmidhī—authentic; also by al-Ṭaḥāwī (1/322–324) and others.

He ﷺ said: “One mudd is enough for ablution, and one saʿ is enough for the bath after major impurity.” Reported by Aḥmad (3/370) and Muslim (1/161). Al-Ḥākim said, “Authentic according to their criteria,” and al-Dhahabī agreed, and so it is.
