as well as al-Ṭaḥāwī, al-Bayhaqī, and Aḥmad, through the transmission of Kurayb, the freedman of Ibn ʿAbbās.
- Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “At Jamʿ (Muzdalifah) the Prophet ﷺ combined maghrib and ʿishāʾ, giving an iqāma for each of them. He did not perform any supererogatory prayers between the two, nor after either of them.”
• Al-Bukhārī, Abū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī, al-Dārimī, al-Ṭaḥāwī, al-Bayhaqī, and Aḥmad recorded it via Ibn Abī Dhiʿb, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from him.
• Mālik also narrated it from al-Zuhrī in an abridged form: “He prayed maghrib and ʿishāʾ together at Muzdalifah.” Aḥmad and Muslim cited this wording from Mālik.
This report from Ibn ʿUmar likewise appears through other chains with the wording: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined maghrib and ʿishāʾ at Jamʿ, praying maghrib as three rakʿahs and ʿishāʾ as two rakʿahs with a single iqāma.” Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī, al-Tirmidhī, al-Ṭaḥāwī, al-Bayhaqī, al-Ṭiyālisī, and Aḥmad all transmit it through various routes from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr on his authority.
