Al-Tirmidhi likewise narrated it from ʿAbd al-Razzaq with this same chain, remarking that it is “sound and authentic (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ).”

Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Ahmad also transmitted it through Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit, with wording similar to the foregoing, but with an additional detail.

Ahmad then reported it via ʿImarah ibn Zadhan—“Thabit narrated to us…”—in a comparable form, adding: “He would remain standing with him until most of the congregation began nodding, their heads drooping.” Its isnad meets the criteria of Muslim.

Al-Bukhari recorded it through Humayd, who said: “I asked Thabit al-Banani about a man who speaks after the iqama has been given. He related to me from Anas ibn Malik: ‘The iqama was pronounced and a man approached the Prophet ﷺ, so he detained him after the iqama had been called.’”

The second route is through ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn Ṣuhayb, from Anas, who said: “The iqama was given while the Prophet ﷺ was conversing privately with a man in a corner of the mosque, and he did not rise to the prayer until the people had dozed off.” Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasaʾi, al-Bayhaqi, and Ahmad all transmitted it through multiple chains from him.

The third route is through Humayd from Anas. Ahmad reported it through several chains from him with the wording: “Bilal delivered the iqama …”
