ʿAwf likewise corroborated it from Muḥammad; Aḥmad recorded this route with a sound chain that fulfills the conditions of the Six. Ayyūb also narrated it from Muḥammad, and al-Ṭaḥāwī preserved that version.
(5) and (6) From ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yaʿqūb and Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh: both of them heard Abū Hurayrah say …—he reported it with similar wording, traced back to the Prophet, and it contains the final additional clause. Mālik transmitted it, and through him Aḥmad and al-Ṭaḥāwī, by way of al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yaʿqūb from the two narrators.
Al-Ṭaḥāwī and Aḥmad then recorded it once more, also through Mālik, from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān but this time only from his father.
Muslim likewise transmitted it through Ismāʿīl ibn Jaʿfar, who said, “Al-ʿAlāʾ informed me from his father,” with the same wording.
(7) From ʿAwf, on the authority of al-Ḥasan—meaning al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī—who said, “It has reached me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said …,” then he narrated it in terms identical to the report of Ibn Sīrīn. Aḥmad recorded it.
In short, the ḥadīth is mass-transmitted from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). I have also located a supporting narration from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), traced back to the Prophet with the wording:
“When one of you arrives after the prayer has been established, let him walk calmly; he should perform what he catches and make up what he missed.”
