Likewise, the fact that al-Ḥāfiẓ remains silent about this report in Fatḥ al-Bārī ought not itself to be passed over in silence. He attributes it to al-Nasāʾī with the additional wording, “until he finishes (the call).” That wording is also found in al-Ṭaḥāwī and, in one of his transmissions, in Aḥmad. Al-Ḥākim reproduced it and declared, “It is sound according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs,” and al-Dhahabī offered no objection—but this is a manifest mistake. Al-Nasāʾī did not include it in his Sunan; most likely it occurs in his work ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-l-Laylah.
Sixth: Al-Mustadrak and Ibn al-Sunnī record that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say,
“Whoever repeats exactly what this man—meaning the muʾadhdhin—has said, with full certitude, will enter Paradise.”
This comes through Abū Hurayrah ﵁, who said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Bilāl stood to make the call to prayer. When he fell silent, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said…,” and he mentioned the above words.
Al-Nasāʾī and al-Ḥākim transmit it by way of Ibn Wahb, from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, from Bukayr ibn al-Ashajj, who reported that ʿAlī ibn Khālid al-Zurqī narrated to him that he heard it from Abū Hurayrah. Al-Ḥākim judged the chain “sound,” and al-Dhahabī concurred.
Yet their assessment is unfounded, for this narrator al-Naḍr has been declared reliable only by Ibn Ḥibbān. Accordingly, al-Ḥāfiẓ in al-Taqrīb merely says, “He is acceptable.”
Aḥmad also recorded the ḥadīth, giving it a more complete wording, which is:
