while travelling, calling out: “Come to prayer, come to success—pray in your dwellings.”
Al-Nasāʾī recorded it ⦗106–107⦘ and Aḥmad ⦗5/373⦘ through ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from him. The chain is sound, and ʿAmr ibn Aws was a senior Successor.
(4) From Nuʿaym ibn al-Nahhām:
“I heard the Prophet’s ﷺ muʾadhdhin on a bitterly cold night while I lay beneath my blanket. I wished he would say, ‘Pray in your dwellings.’ When he reached ‘Come to success,’ he did indeed say, ‘Pray in your dwellings.’ When I asked him about it, he told me that the Prophet ﷺ had instructed him to do so.”
Aḥmad transmitted it ⦗4/320⦘: “ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; Maʿmar from ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr from an unnamed shaykh on his authority.” Its narrators are those relied upon by the six, apart from the unidentified shaykh.
It has another route with different wording:
(5) Nuʿaym also said:
“The adhān for dawn was given on a cold day while I was wrapped in my wife’s cloak. I thought, ‘If only the caller would say, “Whoever remains seated incurs no sin.”’ Then, at the end of the Prophet’s ﷺ muʾadhdhin’s call, he proclaimed, ‘And whoever remains seated incurs no sin.’”
Aḥmad likewise recorded it ⦗5/320⦘ through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh, who said: “Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd related to me; Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ḥabbān informed me from him.”
