(Sound) Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Adam and Moses once argued. Moses said, ‘O Adam, you are the father of mankind; Allah created you with His Hand, breathed into you of His Spirit, and commanded His angels to prostrate to you—so why did you cause us and your offspring to be expelled from Paradise?’

Adam replied, ‘And you are Moses, the one to whom Allah spoke directly and for whom He inscribed the Torah. How many years before I was created did you find it written in the Torah: “Adam disobeyed his Lord and thus went astray”?’

He answered, ‘Forty years.’ Adam therefore prevailed over Moses in the argument.” [4]
