Paradise says, “O Allah, admit him to Paradise.” And whoever seeks refuge from the Fire three times, the Fire says, “O Allah, shield him from the Fire.” (1)
Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan said: al-Muqaddamī narrated to us; ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd Allah, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Ask Allah often for Paradise and seek His protection from the Fire, for they are two intercessors whose intercession is accepted. When a servant frequently asks for Paradise, Paradise says, ‘My Lord, this servant of Yours who has asked You for me—so lodge him within me.’ And the Fire says, ‘My Lord, this servant of Yours who has sought refuge with You from me—so grant him refuge from me.’” (2)
Al-Bazzar said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿUbaydah al-ʿAsfarī narrated to us; Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; Sulaymān ibn Muʿādh narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jābir, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “By Allah’s Face nothing should be requested except Paradise.” Abu Dāwud likewise reported it from the narration of Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir. (3)
In al-Tirmidhi, on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, raised to the Prophet: “Whoever is afraid sets out before dawn, and whoever sets out before dawn reaches the destination. Truly, the commodity of Allah is precious; truly, the commodity of Allah is Paradise.” (4)
Abu Bakr al-Shāfiʿī reported, from Kulayb ibn Ḥazn, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Strive with all your might for Paradise and flee with all your might from the Fire. The seeker of Paradise does not sleep, and the one fleeing the Fire does not sleep. Today the Hereafter is surrounded by hardships, whereas this world is surrounded by delights and desires—so do not let it distract you from the Hereafter.” (5)
Abu Yaʿlā al-Mawṣilī said: Isḥāq ibn Abī Isrāʾīl narrated to us; Ayyūb ibn Shabīb al-Ṣanʿānī narrated to us. He said: Among what we presented to Rabāḥ ibn Zayd was the hadith of ʿAbd Allah ibn Baheer (6): I heard ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazid (7) say, “I heard ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Do not forget the two momentous matters.’ We asked, ‘What are the two momentous matters, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘Paradise and the Fire.’” (8)
