Imam Ahmad said: ʿAbd al-Razzaq narrated to us; Maʿmar narrated to us, from Hammam, from Abu Hurayrah—who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The first company to enter the Garden will have faces like the full moon on the night it is full. Within it they will neither spit, nor blow their noses, nor defecate. Their vessels and their combs will be of gold and silver; their censers will be of al-ʾalūwah (aloes-wood) (1), and their perspiration will be musk. Each of them will have two wives whose marrow of the shanks is visible through the flesh because of their beauty. There will be no discord among them, nor any mutual hatred; their hearts will be as one heart, and morning and evening they will glorify Allah, Exalted is He.”
Muslim likewise transmitted it through Muhammad ibn Rafiʿ from ʿAbd al-Razzaq, and al-Bukhari recorded it through Muhammad ibn Muqatil from Ibn al-Mubarak—both of them from Maʿmar, from Hammam, with this same chain. (2)
Abu Yaʿla said: Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; Jarir narrated to us, from ʿUmārah ibn al-Qaʿqāʿ, from Abu Zurʿah, from Abu Hurayrah—who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The first cohort to enter Paradise will be upon the likeness of the full moon on the night it is full, and those who follow them will shine like the brightest luminous star in the sky. They will neither urinate, nor defecate, nor spit, nor blow their noses. Their combs will be of gold, their perspiration musk, their incense burners al-ʾalūwah, and their spouses the wide-eyed maidens. Their character will be that of a single man, upon the stature of their father Adam—sixty cubits tall in the heaven.” Muslim also narrated it from Abu Khaythamah, and the two agreed upon it from the narration of Jarir. (3)
Imam Ahmad and al-Tabarani—his wording being cited—related, through Hammad ibn Salamah, from ʿAli ibn Zayd ibn Judʿan, from Saʿid ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah—who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The people of Paradise will enter it hairless and beardless, fair-skinned with curling hair and kohl-lined eyes. They will be thirty-three years old, on the form of Adam—sixty cubits tall and seven cubits across.” (4)
Al-Tabarani further said: Ahmad ibn Ismaʿil al-ʿAdawi narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Marzuq narrated to us; ʿImran al-Qattan narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm, from Muʿadh ibn Jabal, that
