“…You will be summoned on the Day of Resurrection by your names and the names of your fathers, so make your names good.” (1)
Al-Bazzār said: ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us; [Muḥammad ibn] Fuḍayl narrated to us; my father narrated to me, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“The earth will vomit up pieces of its very liver. A thief will pass by them and say, ‘It was for this that my hand was cut off.’ A murderer will come and say, ‘It was for this that I killed.’ One who severed the ties of kinship will come and say, ‘It was for this that I broke off relations with my relatives.’ Then they will be invited to take from it, yet they will take nothing.” (2)

Allah the Exalted says:
“On the Day when faces will be whitened and faces will be blackened. As for those whose faces are blackened it will be said, ‘Did you disbelieve after you had believed? Taste, then, the punishment for your disbelief.’ (106) But those whose faces are whitened will be within Allah’s mercy, therein they shall abide. (107)” (Āl ʿImrān 3:106–107)
And He says:
“Some faces that Day will be radiant (22), looking toward their Lord. (23) And some faces that Day will be gloomy (24), thinking that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. (25)” (al-Qiyāmah 75:22–25)
And He says:
“On that Day some faces will be bright (38), laughing, rejoicing. (39) And other faces that Day will be dust-stained (40), covered with darkness. (41) Those—they are the disbelievers, the wicked. (42)” (ʿAbasa 80:38–42)
And He says:
“For those who have done good is the best reward and even more; no gloom nor humiliation will cover their faces. They are the people of Paradise; they will abide therein forever. (26) But those who have earned evil deeds—the recompense of an evil deed is its like, and humiliation will overtake them; they will have no protector against Allah—as though their faces were covered with pieces of pitch-black night. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein forever. (27)” (Yūnus 10:26–27)
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Abū Bakr al-Bazzār also said: Muḥammad ibn Maʿmar and Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Karāmah narrated to us; both said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsā narrated, from Isrāʾīl, from al-Suddi, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ regarding Allah’s words:
“The Day We shall call every people with their leader; then whoever is given his book in his right hand—such people will read their book, and they will not be wronged in the least. (71) But whoever was blind in this life will be blind in the Hereafter and even further astray from the path. (72)” (al-Isrāʾ 17:71–72).
He said:
“One of them will be summoned; his record will be handed to him in his right hand, his body will be expanded, his face will be whitened, and a crown made of a glittering pearl will be set upon his head. He will go off to his companions, who will see him from afar and say, ‘O Allah, bring him to us and bless us through him.’ When he reaches them he will say, ‘Rejoice, for every one of you shall have the like of this.’
“As for the disbeliever, his face will be blackened and his body will be expanded. His companions will see him and say, ‘We seek refuge in Allah from this and from the evil of this one. O Allah, do not bring him to us.’ When he reaches them they will say, ‘O Allah, disgrace him.’ He will reply, ‘May Allah keep you far away; every one of you will have the like of this.’”
He—al-Bazzār—then said: “We do not know this report except through this chain.” Abū Bakr ibn Abī al-Dunyā also transmitted it, on the authority of al-ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsā al-ʿAbsī, with this same chain. (3)
