—seize him by the collar and say, “My Lord, ask this man: for what reason did he kill me?” He will reply, “So-and-so ordered me.” Both the instigator and the killer will then be seized and cast into the Fire. (1)
Ibn Masʿud also narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “By Him in whose hand is my soul, the destruction of the heavens and the earth”—and in another wording: “the disappearance of the whole world”—“is easier in the sight of Allah than the killing of a believer.” (2)
In the ḥadith of the Trumpet he said: “Then Allah will judge between His creatures, [until no injustice owed by one person to another remains without being settled], to the point that the man who mixed water with milk and then sold it will be required to separate the milk from the water.”
Allah the Exalted has said: “Whoever embezzles will come with what he embezzled on the Day of Resurrection; then every soul will be paid in full for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.” (Āl ʿImrān 161)
The two Ṣaḥīḥs relate from Saʿīd ibn Zayd and others that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever usurps even a handspan of land will have it hung round his neck in the form of seven earths on the Day of Resurrection.” (3)
Both Ṣaḥīḥs also report: “Whoever fashions an image [in this world] will be commanded on the Day of Resurrection to breathe a soul into it, yet he will not be able to do so.” (4) In another wording: “The makers of these images will be punished, and it will be said to them, ‘Bring to life what you have created.’” (5)
Another authentic report states: “Whoever claims to have seen a dream that he did not see will be charged on the Day of Resurrection with tying together two grains of barley, and he will never be able to do so.” (6)
We have already cited the ḥadith of Abū Zurʿah from Abū Hurayrah concerning misappropriation, in which he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Let me not find one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel on his neck that is groaning, or a cow that is lowing, or a sheep that is bleating, or a horse that is neighing, and he says, ‘O Muhammad, help me!’ I will answer, ‘I have no authority to help you; I have conveyed the message to you.’” The full narration is recorded in the two Ṣaḥīḥs. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Abū Yaʿlā said: Muḥammad ibn Bakkār al-Baṣrī related to us; Abū Miḥṣan Ḥuṣayn ibn Numayr narrated to us; from Ḥusayn ibn Qays; from ʿAṭāʾ; from Ibn ʿUmar; from Ibn Masʿūd; from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: “The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is questioned about five things: about his lifespan—how he spent it; about his youth—”
