In the ḥadīth of the Trumpet it reads: “Then Allah will judge between the servants, and the first matter to be decided will be blood.” This is exactly what will occur on the Day of Resurrection: once Allah, glorified be He, has concluded His judgment among the animals, He will begin adjudicating among the servants.

As the Most High says:
“For every nation there is a Messenger. When their Messenger comes, judgment is passed between them with justice and they will not be wronged.” (Q 10:47)

The first nation to be judged will be this ummah, in honor of its Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and because of its virtue—just as it will be the first to cross the ṣirāṭ (the bridge) and the first to enter Paradise. This is established in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, in the report of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from Hammām, from Abū Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, declared: “We are the last yet the foremost on the Day of Resurrection.”⦗1⦘
Another wording states: “Those for whom judgment is concluded before all creatures.”⦗2⦘

Ibn Mājah narrated: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā told us; Abū Salamah told us; Ḥammād ibn Salamah⦗3⦘ told us, from Saʿīd ibn Iyās al-Jurayrī, from Abū Naḍrah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “We are the last of the nations and the first to be called to account. It will be announced, ‘Where is the unlettered nation and its Prophet?’ Thus we are the last and the first.”⦗4⦘

On the question of what will be judged first among people on the Day of Resurrection, who will face strict reckoning, and who will be dealt with leniently, it has already been mentioned in the ḥadīth: “Rights will surely be restored to their owners on the Day of Resurrection, until retaliation is granted to the hornless sheep against the horned one.”⦗5⦘ In the ḥadīth of (Yaḥyā ibn ʿAqīl from) Abū Hurayrah we also find: “…even for the tiniest ant against another ant.”⦗6⦘ Here, dharrah refers to an ant; Allah knows best.

If this is Allah’s ruling concerning animals that bear no legal responsibility, then securing the rights of human beings and the jinn among themselves on the Day of Resurrection is even more certain. It has been authentically reported in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, in the Musnad of Aḥmad, and in the Sunan—
