and so perish, just as those before you perished.”

ʿUqbah added, “That was the last time I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [standing on the pulpit]. (1)

[Report transmitted from ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) on this matter]
Al-Bayhaqī related—through the route of ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī—that ʿAffān narrated to us; Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Yūsuf ibn Mihrān, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
“I heard ʿUmar [ibn al-Khaṭṭāb] (may Allah be pleased with him) say: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ carried out the punishment of stoning, Abu Bakr carried it out, and I have carried it out. Yet a people will appear who will deny the stoning, the Antichrist, the Pool, the intercession, the torment of the grave, and the coming forth of a group from the Fire.’ ”

As for the narration of al-Mustawrid, it was cited by Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ. (2)

[Narration of al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān al-Kilābī (may Allah be pleased with him)]
ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Bujayr al-Bujayrī (3) said: Sulaymān ibn Salamah narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, from Mujāhid, from al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘My Pool—its width and its length are like the distance between Aylah and ʿAmmān. Inside it are goblets as numerous as the stars in the sky. The very first of my community to reach it will be the one who used to give drink to every thirsty soul.’ ”

Al-Ḍiyāʾ recorded this through the same chain, then said, “I consider this hadith to be among al-Bujayrī’s sound narrations, and Allah knows best.” (4)

Abū Bakr ibn Abī ʿĀṣim said: Duḥaym narrated to us; al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us; Ṣafwān narrated to us, from Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir, from Abū al-Yamān al-Hawzanī, from Abū Umāmah, that Yazīd ibn al-Akhnaṣ (5) said, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, what is the extent…"
