from Abū Sabrah—whose given name was Sālim ibn Sabrah—who said:
“ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ziyād used to ask about the Pool, the Pool of Muhammad ﷺ, yet he would still deny it even after questioning Abū Barzah, al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, ʿĀʾidh ibn ʿAmr, and another man; he persisted in rejecting it.
“So I said to ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ziyād, ‘I shall relate to you a report that will cure you of this doubt. Your father once sent me with some money to Muʿāwiyah. I met ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr, who narrated to me what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He dictated it to me, and I wrote it down with my own hand, adding not a single letter and omitting none.
“‘He told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Allah does not love obscenity—or, He said, He detests—the obscene person and the one who makes a display of obscenity.
“The Hour will not be established until obscenity and mutual obscenity become widespread, kinship ties are severed, neighbourly relations are abused, the traitor is trusted and the trustworthy is deemed treacherous.
“Be aware that your appointment is at my Pool. Its width and length are the same; it spans the distance between Aylah and Mecca, a journey of one month. Within it are pitchers like the stars; its drink is whiter than silver. Whoever drinks from it a single draft will never thirst thereafter—ever.”’
“ʿUbayd Allah said, ‘I have never heard a report on the Pool more firmly established than this,’ and he accepted it as true. He took the written sheet and kept it with him. ⦗1⦘

Abu Bakr al-Bazzār said in his Musnad: Mahmūd ibn Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; his father narrated to us; ʿĪsā ibn al-Mukhtār narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Laylā, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUbayd Allah ibn Abī Mulaykah, from ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr al-Laythī, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr, who said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘I have a Pool in Paradise; its extent is a month’s journey and all its sides are equal. Its fragrance is sweeter than musk, its water resembles silver, and its cups are like the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it a single sip will never thirst again.’”
He then added, “We know of no other hadith that ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr narrated from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr besides this one.” ⦗2⦘
