but go to Noah, the chief of the prophets.”

So they will go to him and say,
“O Noah, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.”
He will reply,
“I am not able to do that; rather, go to Abraham, the Friend of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).”

He said: They will go to him and say,
“O Abraham, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.”
He will answer,
“I am not able to do that; but go to Moses, whom Allah (Mighty and Majestic) chose for His messages and with whom He spoke.”

He said: They will go to him and say,
“O Moses, intercede for us with your Lord (Mighty and Majestic) so that He may judge between us.”
He will say,
“I am not able to do that; instead, go to Jesus, the Spirit of Allah and His Word.”

They will come to Jesus and say,
“O Jesus, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.”
He will reply,
“I am not able to do that; go rather to Muhammad ﷺ, for he is the Seal of the Prophets. He is present today, and his earlier and later sins have already been forgiven.”

Jesus will then say,
“Tell me: if goods were sealed inside a container, could anyone reach what is inside before the seal is broken?”
They will answer, “No.”
He will say, “Likewise, Muhammad ﷺ is the Seal of the Prophets.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“They will come to me and say, ‘O Muhammad, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.’ I will reply, ‘Yes.’ Then I will go to the gate of Paradise, grasp its ring, and seek permission to enter.

A voice will ask, ‘Who are you?’
I will say, ‘Muhammad.’

The gate will be opened for me, and I will fall in prostration, praising my Lord (Mighty and Majestic) with praises that neither anyone before me has ever uttered nor anyone after me will ever utter.

It will be said to me, ‘Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be granted, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’

I will say, ‘My Lord, my community, my community.’

Then it will be proclaimed, ‘Bring out everyone who has in his heart the weight of a grain of barley of faith.’ He said: ‘I will bring them out, then I will return and prostrate…’—and he recounted something similar—‘and it will be said: Bring out everyone who has in his heart the weight of a wheat grain of faith.’ He said: ‘I will bring them out, then I will return and prostrate…’—and he recounted something similar—‘and it will be said: Bring out everyone who has in his heart the weight of a speck of faith.’ He said: ‘I will bring them out.’

Al-Bukhari and Muslim both narrated this from the report of Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah, from Qatādah, from Anas, with similar wording. ⦗1⦘

[The narration of Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)]

Imam Aḥmad said: Yahyā ibn Saʿīd related to us; Abū Ḥayyān related to us; Abū Zurʿah ibn ʿAmr ibn Jarīr related to us; from Abū Hurayrah, who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was once presented with some meat. The foreleg, which he liked, was offered to him, and he took a bite from it. He then said,
“I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know why that is?

Allah will gather the first and the last upon a single plain; the caller will make them all hear, and every eye will see them. The sun will draw near, and the people will be afflicted with anguish and distress such as they can neither bear nor endure.

Some of them will say to others, ‘Do you not see the state you are in? Do you not see how far matters have gone? Will you not look for someone to intercede for you with your Lord?’

Then some will say to others, ‘Your father, Adam.’

So they will come to Adam and say, ‘O Adam, you are the father of mankind. Allah created you with His own Hand, breathed into you of His Spirit, and commanded the angels, and they prostrated…”
