And in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim it is narrated from Abū Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I shall be the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, the first for whom the grave will be split open, the first intercessor, and the first whose intercession will be accepted.” (1)
Muslim also records—from Ubayy ibn Kaʿb (may Allah be pleased with him) in the ḥadīth about the Qur’an being revealed in seven modes—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “So I prayed, ‘O Allah, forgive my community! O Allah, forgive my community!’ I postponed the third request for the Day when all created beings will come to seek my intercession, even Abraham (peace be upon him).” (2)
Aḥmad said: Abū ʿĀmir al-Azdī related to us; Zuhayr ibn Muḥammad related to us; from ʿAbd Allah ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl; from al-Ṭufayl ibn Ubayy ibn Kaʿb; from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “On the Day of Resurrection I shall be the leader of the prophets, their spokesman, and the holder of their intercession—without boasting.” It was also transmitted by al-Tirmidhī and Ibn Mājah through the isnād of ʿAbd Allah ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl, and al-Tirmidhī graded it ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ. (3)
Aḥmad further said: Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Rabbih related to us; Muḥammad ibn Ḥarb related to us; al-Zubaydī related to us; from al-Zuhrī; from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Kaʿb ibn Mālik; from Kaʿb ibn Mālik, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “People will be raised on the Day of Resurrection and I, together with my ummah, will stand upon a hillock. My Lord—Exalted is He—will clothe me in a green robe, then permission will be granted to me and I shall say whatever Allah wills me to say; that is the Praised Station.” (4)
Aḥmad also said: Ḥasan related to us; Ibn Luhayʿah related to us; Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb related to us; from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr; from Abū ’l-Dardāʾ, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I shall be the first to be allowed to prostrate on the Day of Resurrection and the first to be allowed to raise his head. I shall then look before me and recognise my community among the nations; and the same behind me, on my right, and on my left.” A man asked, “O Messenger of Allah, how will you recognise your community among the nations from the time of Noah until yours?” He replied: “They will be ghurran muḥajjalīn—radiant in face and limbs—because of the traces of wuḍūʾ; no one else will have such marks. I shall also know them because their records will be given to them in their right hands (5) and because their offspring will run on ahead of them.” (6)
