Naṣr, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAjlān, with this same chain. Al-Tirmidhī said: it is ḥasan (1).
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Abū Bakr al-Bazzār said: “Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-ʿUqaylī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Rāshid narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The arrogant will be assembled in the likeness of ants on the Day of Resurrection.’” He then remarked, “Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān is alone in transmitting it from his shaykh (2).”
Abū Bakr ibn Abī al-Dunyā, in his book Ahwāl al-Qiyāmah, said: “ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar al-Jushamī narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, from Hishām; Qatādah informed us, from al-Ḥasan, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on one of his journeys, and the pace of travel had become uneven among his Companions (3). He then raised his voice with these two verses:
‘O mankind, fear your Lord! Indeed, the quake of the Hour is a mighty thing (1). The Day you behold it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, every pregnant woman will deliver her burden, and you will see people as though drunk, yet they are not drunk—but the punishment of Allah is severe (2)’ [Al-Ḥajj: 1-2].
When his Companions heard this, they urged on their mounts (4), realizing he was about to make an important declaration. When they had crowded closely around him (5), he said:
“Do you know what day that is? It is the Day when Adam will be summoned—his Lord will call him and say, ‘O Adam, dispatch the delegation to the Fire.’ He will ask, ‘My Lord, what is the delegation to the Fire?’ He will reply, ‘From every thousand, nine-hundred and ninety-nine to the Fire, and one to Paradise.’”
His Companions were overwhelmed with despair (6) so that none of them could manage a smile. When he noticed this, he said:
“Work, and receive glad tidings! By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muḥammad, you are among two creatures who, whenever they accompany something, make it numerous: Gog and Magog, and those who perish from the progeny of Adam and of Iblīs.”
At this they were relieved. Then he added:
“Work, and receive glad tidings! By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muḥammad, your share among mankind is but like a white hair on the flank of a camel, or like a dark spot on the foreleg of a beast.”
Al-Tirmidhī and al-Nasāʾī likewise reported it from Muḥammad ibn Bashshār (Bundār), from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān, with the same chain, and al-Tirmidhī said: “It is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ (7).”

When people rise from their graves they will discover that the earth is no longer the land they had once lived on and left behind: its mountains have been pulverized, its hills leveled, its features altered; its rivers have ceased to flow, and its trees, dwellings, and cities have vanished.
