Yūnus ⦗1⦘ ibn Sayf reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“People will be gathered on foot, whereas I shall be gathered riding al-Burāq, with Bilāl before me on a red she-camel. When we arrive at the great assembly of mankind, Bilāl will pronounce the adhān; and when he says, ‘I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,’ all the earlier and later generations will endorse his words.”
This report is mursal through this chain.
Mention of mankind being raised barefoot, naked and uncircumcised ⦗2⦘, and of the first person who will be clothed on that Day
Imām Aḥmad said: Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Rabbih narrated to us; Baqiyyah narrated to us; al-Zubaydī narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “People will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection barefoot, naked and uncircumcised.”
ʿĀʾishah asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what about our private parts?” He replied, “For each of them that Day will be a matter that fully occupies him.” ⦗37⦘ (ʿAbasa 80:37).
The two Ṣaḥīḥs also transmit this ḥadīth through Ḥātim ibn Abī Ṣaghīrah, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Abī Mulaykah, from al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr, from ʿĀʾishah, with similar wording ⦗3⦘.
Imām Aḥmad further said: ʿAffān narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us; al-Mughīrah ibn al-Nuʿmān—an elder of Banū Nakhaʿ—narrated to us; he said: I heard Saʿīd ibn Jubayr relate that he heard Ibn ʿAbbās say:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and delivered an exhortation, saying, “O people, you will be gathered before Allah barefoot, naked and uncircumcised. ‘As We created you the first time, so shall We bring you back—this is a promise binding on Us; indeed We shall fulfil it.’ ⦗104⦘ (al-Anbiyāʾ 21:104). Know that the first of creation to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibrāhīm. Then men from my community will be brought forward and taken to the left side, and I shall cry out, ‘My companions!’ but I will be told, ‘You do not know what they introduced after you.’ I shall then say as the righteous servant said: ‘I was a witness over them while I remained among them; but when You took me to Yourself, You became the Watcher over them, and You are Witness over all things.’ ⦗117⦘ … until His words, ‘the Mighty, the Wise.’ ⦗118⦘ (al-Māʾidah 5:117-118). It will then be said, ‘These people never ceased turning back on their heels after you left them.’”
This version is recorded by the two Ṣaḥīḥs through the narration of Shuʿbah.
Aḥmad also related it through Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah—whose wording likewise appears in the two Ṣaḥīḥs—from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, as a marfūʿ report: “You will indeed be gathered before Allah, Mighty and Majestic, barefoot, naked and uncircumcised.”
Al-Bayhaqī transmitted a similar report through Hilāl ibn Khabbāb, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“You will be resurrected barefoot, naked and uncircumcised.” His wife asked, “Will we look at one another’s nakedness?” He replied:
