Al-Ṭabarānī also transmits—on the authority of Ibn ʿUmar, as a marfūʿ report—the statement:
“The Hour will be established at the moment the call to the dawn prayer is made on a Friday.”
Abū ʿAbd Allah al-Qurṭubī records in al-Tadhkira that the Hour will occur on a Friday that falls in the middle of the month of Ramadan. This is an unusual claim that requires corroborating evidence.
Abū Bakr Ibn Abī al-Dunyā said: Aḥmad ibn Kathīr narrated to us; Qurṭ ibn Ḥurayth—Abū Sahl—narrated to us, from a man among the companions of al-Ḥasan, who said:
Al-Ḥasan said, “There are two days and two nights the like of which all creatures have never heard: a night you will pass with the inhabitants of the graves, never having spent such a night before; and a night whose morning will unveil the Day of Resurrection. There is also the day on which the herald from Allah, Exalted is He, will come to you—either with the glad tidings of Paradise or with the warning of Hell—and the day on which you are handed your Record, whether in your right hand or in your left.”
A similar report is related from ʿĀmir ibn Qays, Haram ibn Ḥayyān, and others: they held in great awe the night whose dawn will break upon the Day of Resurrection.
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā also said: Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Kathīr al-ʿAbdī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sābiq narrated to us; Mālik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, from Junayd, who said:
While al-Ḥasan was once in the mosque during a day in Rajab, holding a small vessel (qulayla) from which he sipped water and then spat it onto the pebbles, he suddenly sighed deeply and wept until his shoulders shook. He then said, “If only hearts were alive, if only hearts were sound, I would make you weep over the night whose morning is the Day of Resurrection—the night that labours to bring forth the dawn of the Day of Resurrection. No created being has ever heard of a day more sorrowful, more regretful, more tear-stained, or more filled with anguish than the Day of Resurrection.”
Mention: the first person for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj said: Ḥakam ibn Mūsā Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us; Hiql—meaning Ibn Ziyād—related to us, from al-Awzāʿī; Abū ʿAmmār related to me; ʿAbd Allah ibn Farrūkh related to me; Abū Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, the first for whom the grave will be opened, the first intercessor, and the first whose intercession will be accepted.” ⦗1⦘
Hushaym narrated—from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Abū Naḍra, from Abū Saʿīd—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection—and this is no boast; I will be the first for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection—and this is no boast; and I will be the first to intercede on the Day of Resurrection—and this is no boast.” ⦗2⦘
