In the ḥadith of the Trumpet it is related:
“Allah will replace the earth with another earth; He will spread it out, level it, and stretch it the way a piece of ʿUkāẓ leather is stretched…”—and so on, as cited earlier.
Allah, exalted is He, says:
“On the Day when the earth is changed into another earth, and the heavens as well, and they all appear before Allah, the One, the Subduer (48)” [Ibrāhīm].
In Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim it is narrated from ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: “Where will the people be on the Day the earth is changed and the heavens?” He replied,
“They will be in darkness beneath the Bridge.” (1)
It is possible that what is intended here is a different kind of transformation from the one mentioned in that ḥadith—namely, that the features of the earth will be altered in the interval between the two Blasts, the Blast of swooning and the Blast of resurrection. The mountains will be set in motion, the earth will be extended, and everything will remain a single, level expanse with no crookedness, hills, or valleys, as Allah says:
“They ask you about the mountains. Say: ‘My Lord will pulverize them completely (105); He will leave it a level, bare plain (106); you will see therein no curve and no ruggedness (107)’” [Ṭā Hā]—that is, neither depression nor elevation.
He also says: “You see the mountains, thinking them motionless, while they will pass away like clouds” [An-Naml: 88];
and: “The mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage (20)” [An-Nabaʾ];
and: “The mountains will be like carded wool (5)” [Al-Qāriʿah];
and: “The earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crushing (14)” [Al-Ḥāqqah];
and: “On the Day We set the mountains moving and you see the earth laid bare, We shall gather them and leave none of them behind (47); they will be presented before your Lord in ranks: ‘You have come to Us just as We created you the first time, yet you claimed that We would not appoint for you a meeting’ (48)” [Al-Kahf].

The ḥadith of the Trumpet also states:
“Then Allah will send down water from beneath the Throne; the sky will rain for forty days until the water rises above you to the height of twelve cubits. Then Allah will command the bodies to grow like the growth of al-ṭarāthīth—a small variety of cucumber—or like the growth of herbs.”
It has already been mentioned in the ḥadith narrated by Imām Aḥmad and Muslim:
“Then He will send a rain like fine drizzle, or like shade, and from it people’s bodies will sprout; then the Trumpet will be blown again and, behold, they will be standing, looking on. Then it will be proclaimed, ‘O people, come to your Lord…’” to the end of the ḥadith, which has been related in full through ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ (2).
Muslim likewise transmitted—from Abū Kurayb, through Abū Muʿāwiyah, al-Aʿmash, Abū Ṣāliḥ, and Abū Hurayrah—and mentioned the ḥadith; in the third narration, after his words “I refused,” he said: “Then Allah will send down water from the sky…”
