and their gathering for a Day in which there is no doubt. There is no fourth verse equal to those three in wording, even though many other passages convey the same purport.
Allah, exalted is He, says:
“ They swear by Allah with their most emphatic oaths, ‘Allah will never resurrect the dead.’ Rather, He will—this is a true promise binding upon Him—but most people do not realise. ⦗38⦘ He will raise them so that He may make clear to them the reality of that about which they differed and so that the disbelievers may know that they were indeed liars. ⦗39⦘ Our word to a thing, when We will it, is only that We say to it, ‘Be!’ and it is. ⦗40⦘” ⦗38-40⦘ [al-Naḥl 16:38-40]
He also says:
“Your creation and your resurrection are but like that of a single soul.” ⦗31:28⦘ [Luqmān]
And He says:
“Indeed, the Hour is coming—there is no doubt about it—but most people do not believe. ⦗59⦘” [Ghāfir 40:59]
He says:
“Are you harder to create, or is the heaven? He built it, ⦗27⦘ He raised its vault and proportioned it, ⦗28⦘ …” to the end of the sūrah. ⦗27-46⦘ [al-Nāziʿāt 79:27-46]
He, exalted is He, says:
“Say: Be stones or iron ⦗50⦘ —or any other created thing that you consider even harder to revive—yet they will say, ‘Who will bring us back?’ Say: ‘The One who produced you the first time.’ Then they will shake their heads at you and say, ‘When will that be?’ Say: ‘Perhaps it is near. ⦗51⦘ On the Day He calls you, you will answer with His praise, and you will think you stayed only a short while.’ ⦗52⦘” [al-Isrāʾ 17:50-52]
He says:
“We shall gather them on the Day of Resurrection upon their faces—blind, dumb, and deaf; their refuge is Hell. Whenever its blaze subsides We shall increase for them the fire. ⦗97⦘ That is their recompense because they rejected Our signs and said, ‘When we have become bones and scattered dust, shall we really be raised as a new creation?’ ⦗98⦘ Have they not seen that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth, is able to create their like? He has appointed for them a term about which there is no doubt; yet the wrongdoers refuse everything except disbelief. ⦗99⦘” [al-Isrāʾ 17:97-99]
He says:
“Has man not seen that We created him from a drop of fluid, yet he turns into an open adversary… ” to the end of the sūrah. ⦗77-83⦘ [Yā-Sīn]
He, the Exalted, says:
“Have they not seen that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by creating them, is able to give life to the dead? Yes indeed! He is Powerful over all things. ⦗33⦘” [al-Aḥqāf 46:33]
He says:
“Among His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand firm by His command; then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, you will, behold, come forth. ⦗25⦘ To Him belongs all who are in the heavens and the earth; all are devoutly obedient to Him. ⦗26⦘ It is He who originates creation, then repeats it, and that is even easier for Him. To Him belongs the highest description in the heavens and the earth; He is the Almighty, the All-Wise. ⦗27⦘” [al-Rūm 30:25-27]
He says:
“That is because Allah is the Truth; He gives life to the dead, and He is Powerful over all things. ⦗6⦘ The Hour is coming—there is no doubt about it—and Allah will resurrect those who are in the graves. ⦗7⦘” [al-Ḥajj 22:6-7]
He says:
“We indeed created man from an extract of clay ⦗12⦘ then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a secure lodging, ⦗13⦘ then We made the drop a clinging clot, and We made the clot a lump of flesh, and We made the lump bones, and We clothed the bones with flesh, then We produced him as another creation. So blessed is Allah, the Best of creators. ⦗14⦘ Then, after that, you will surely die; ⦗15⦘ then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will surely be raised again. ⦗16⦘ And We created above you seven pathways, and We have never been unmindful of creation. ⦗17⦘” [al-Muʾminūn 23:12-17]
In all these passages Allah, exalted is He, adduces the revival of the dead earth as evidence of His ability to revive human bodies after their death, decay, and disintegration, when they have become
